From Flay Lucy and Julia in Hinterkappelen, Switzerland

Hello everyone, Hi Lucy

My name is Julia and I am 15 years old. Thank you for letting me take part in this project.
Dear Lucy, I am very sorry that you had to wait so long for an answer from me.

We really like to eat chocolate called Toblerone. Where the mountain is on the packing, if you look very closely you can see a bear.

School:
1. 2 years kindergarten.
2. 6 years primary school
3. 3 years high school
4. Apprenticeship/ Grammar school
5. Possibly studying at the university.

Holidays:
5-6 week summer holidays
3 weeks of autumn holidays
2 weeks of winter holidays
1 week of sport week
2 weeks of spring holidays

Seasons and weather:
We have four seasons.
In summer it gets up to 36°C and in winter down to -10° C.

Favorite places:
I hope it’s about my favorite places and if not then let me know. I really enjoy being in the city, but also by the river or the lake. I also like to be in the forest because I often go there for a walk with my dog. In summer I like to go to the swimming pool and in winter I like to go ice-skating.

Geography:
There are many mountains, rivers, lakes, cities and villages in Switzerland.
The highest peak is there Dofourspitze.
But the Jungfraujoch is also located in Switzerland and it’s the top of the Europe.

That was the first part of the many mails. Unfortunately it is very late with us so I can’t continue. I’ll send the rest to you tomorrow afternoon.

Many greetings

Julia

Have you ever seen a bear in the wild? No, but in Bern there is one place where bears live on a public run. During the winter they can be seen at the zoo in Bern.

What native animals are there in Your country?Forest: wolves, wild, boars, lynxes, roe-deers, deers, hares, Mountains: marmots, chamois Lakes, rivers: ducks, beavers

Do you go skiing in winter?  Yes, I do?

What is winter like?  The winter is cold. Because of climate change, there is always little snow in the flatlands. But in the mountains you can ski and sledge very well.

Where do you go for Holidays? I often go to the pool or go to the mountains to hike. Especially this year because of the covid-19. I also like to visit cities that I haven't been to before.

Do you have many Beaches? Not really. There are small beaches on the lake. But here in Switzerland there is no sea nearby.

here are some pictures:

1. Here is Lucy in front of the Federal Palace.

2.There is Lucy in front of the Swiss National Bank.

3. Here you can see Lucy in front of the Zytglogge bell tower.

4. Unfortunately, Lucy is not so easy to recognize here.  Lucy is in this picture in front of the Bern Minster.

5. This is the front door of the Bern Minster.

6. In the background you can see the Aare river. Behind Lucy you can see part of the city of Bern.

7. Here is Lucy in front of the fountain on  the Bundesplatz.

8. Here Lucy is in the middle of the old town.  Behind Lucy is a gals roof.  Under this roof there are all stops for buses and trams.  This glass roof is called a foot because from above it looks like a footprint.
