Doing this project whilst COVID-19 restrictions are in place has presented us with many challenges.
Thank you to all our families and to our hosts for showing patience and allowing us to send our flat travellers by email as well. We now have flat e-travellers in many places.
This is the latest information from Australia Post for outbound mail:
These countries have suspended mail from or to Australia. We will continue to watch the Australia Post webpage to see when we can send our flat travellers to the following countries:
- Uganda
- Ukraine
- India
- Argentina.
These countries are experiencing 5 weeks at least to arrive:
- USA [additional delays of up to 5-7 weeks]
- Canada
These countries have fewer delays and our flat travellers SHOULD arrive between 9 - 18 business days:
- Singapore [delays of up to 2-4 weeks]
- China [Severe delays to Hong Kong]
- New Zealand [processing delays]
- England
- Ireland [restriced services]
- Iceland
- New Caledonia [with delays]
- France
- Costa Rica [although NO inbound mail until further notice. Only outbound mail]
- Germany
- Italy [restricted services]
- Poland
- Switzerland
International economy mail is being sent by sea, which means long delays.Some delays are up to 8-12 weeks.
If you are a host, we would still love you to send your flat traveller back by mail. Even if we get them back next year, it will be a bonus.
In the meantime, thank goodness for technology and e-travelling.
