Flat Mrs Donnelly [made by Issy] and Maeve in Kilkenny.

Hi Izzy,

For today’s adventure Maeve brought Mrs Donnelly to one of her favourite places, the town of Tramore in County Waterford. Tramore is a seaside town about 35 minute drive south from our house. The population here is about 11,000. It has a 5km sandy beach and wonderful sand dunes. This dunes area is a bird sanctuary and at low tide you will see many wading birds feeding on the sand banks. It is a very busy place most summers as visitors come for both the beach and the amusement park.

Mrs Donnelly had a lovely day out in Tramore where she tried skateboarding with Maeve. Maeve is just learning to skateboard and loves it very much. After skateboarding we visited our favourite restaurant, Moe’s, for a pizza. Pizza is Maeve’s favourite food. Pizza is not a traditional food in Ireland, but it’s very popular here. Traditional Irish food would be a meal like bacon (boiled ham) and cabbage with boiled potatoes. It is Maeve’s brother Shane’s favourite dinner. Another traditional meal is Irish stew, a mix of potatoes, onion, carrots and lamb. Maeve’s Granny makes the best Irish stew ever.

After the pizza we took Mrs Donnelly to the beach. It is very windy here in the south east of Ireland at the moment as we have had 3 Orange alert wind storms in the last week. This is very unusual weather for this time of year. Usually the wind storms don’t come until October. The waves are very strong because of the winds and the surfers are loving it.

The very best thing about Tramore is that Granny lives here so we finished the trip with a visit to Granny to introduce her to Mrs. Donnelly.  Granny brought us a glass of milk and some Custard Cream biscuits which we ate outside. We don't go inside Granny's house now when we go to visit because we want to keep her safe from catching Covid-19.

We hope you are all staying safe too in Australia.

From Flat Billy and Heidi in Zurich, Switzerland

Switzerland is known in the world for many things like chocolate, watches and of course cheese.

I don’t think even Heidi would know how many different kinds there are. In every supermarket,

there’s an endless choice. And then you can buy it directly from the farmers too.

I hope you are all doing well back home and are staying warm. And I promise to write more

often!

Big hug from Flat Billy and Heidi
